On February 19-20, 2013 the first Energy Sustainability Working Group Meeting was held in Moscow within the framework of Russia's G20 Presidency. For the first time in the G20 history broad-ranged energy-related agenda was discussed in the format of a united Energy Sustainability Working Group (ESWG) that integrates earlier activities of the G20, namely Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency working groups and Global Marine Environment Protection initiative.
The discussion encompassed four main strands, which are: making energy and commodity markets more transparent and, potentially, more predictable; promoting energy efficiency, sustainable development and inclusive green growth; sound regulation for energy infrastructure; and ensuring global protection for marine environment.
The meeting was attended by experts from all across the G20 members, as well as representatives of a number of international organizations.
Meeting venue: Radisson Royal Hotel Moscow
