The Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee’s seminar was held in Moscow

The seminar "Investment and Investment Finance: the Supply and Demand of Long Term Finance", organized by the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee together with the Ministry of Finance of Russia, was held on February 13-14 at the Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel in Moscow.

The participants discussed the role of long term investments to support global economic growth as well as main sources of long term finance, including the significant contribution of institutional investors, MDBs, national development banks, LCBMs, sovereign wealth funds, PPP.

Representatives from leading international organizations took part in the panel discussion, among them: World Bank, IMF, OECD, EBRD.

First Deputy Chairman of Bank of Russia Mr. Аlexey Ulyukaev and Russia's G20 Sherpa Кsenia Yudaeva emphasized that Russia needs a shift to a new economic pattern. Internal resources should be accumulated and become the sources of internal investments. Russia's Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Sergei Storchak mentioned the possibility of establishing a new fora within G20 - D20, a communicating platform for representatives of national development banks.

The Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee established in 1994 is the well-known research center in the area of International Financial Architecture based on regular dialogue between the private and public sectors. The Committee works closely with the G20 Ministries of Finance and Central Banks through organizing seminars and high-level conferences dedicated to the discussion of the risks and challenges in the world economy.
