Ksenia Yudaeva: Creation of high-quality jobs is a common task for the G20 members
Welcoming the participants of the Task Force on Employment Meeting, Ksenia Yudaeva, Chief of the Presidential Experts' Directorate and the Russian G20 Sherpa, reassured that the issue of employment is a crucial one for Russia's G20 presidency. "The task of creating jobs concerns each member of the G20 in different ways," she said. "There are countries that have high unemployment levels, and there are some where this is not so significant. However, the issue of creating high-quality jobs is something that all the G20 countries are facing, and in this sense there are big opportunities for developing and exchanging best practices."
The activities of the Task Force on Employment are closely linked with those of the Framework Working Group. "You cannot create jobs without investment," Ksenia Yudaeva said. On the other hand, she added, to create jobs you need a sufficiently flexible labour market, which provides a certain level of protection for the individual.
The working group's agenda also included considering the problem of employment for the most vulnerable social groups. "This concerns young people, women, senior workers (the most pressing problem for many countries as a result of aging population), and the disabled," the Russian Sherpa explained.
One of the working group's most important tasks is developing recommendations for the G20 Labour Ministers Meeting and the first ever G20 Joint Labour and Finance Ministers Meeting, which, Ksenia Yudaeva reminded, was an initiative of the Russian presidency.
